RE: GPR 1200

You're right the unit has carbs and not Fuel Injection, wasn't thinking when I read the first response. The ski is a 2001 and is as you say a carburated, from what you say I don't need to change the jetting just block off the pump unit. That iv've dune I made up an allum plate and installed it. What is a "D-plate or "Cat-con" ? Not used to the modern acrinims for probably what is common for you PWC guys. Thanks for the input, with your help and the other postings on the site I hope to get the unit going by next week end. I'm going to get the coupling alignment done tomorrow it went in easy once I got the engine onto the mounts, just slid right in so I don't think it'll take more than one shim to get it right. Mike S. cat-con is catalytic converter,, and d-plate is the piece you replace the cat-con with,,,, the cat's have a tendency to go bad after 50+ hours and need to be replaced

RE: Anbody know the HP output on the FX Cruiser SHO

the SHO has 220HP... keep in mind thats running on 87 octane, and low boost.... once riva releases the new ecu for this motor its true potential will come out......

RE: GPR 1200

what year is the boat? if its a 2000 you have carbs not EFI....the oil lines have a tendency to slip off the carb nippple.... when switching to premix you dont need to run larger jets,,,,,its ok to run non yamalube oil as long as you have a d-plate instead of the cat-con...i use quiksilver in mine.... is the boat totally stock? do you plan on modding it more?

RE: MUDBUG nationals radar run video !!!

I sold my 04 last year but it's still in the family. I still work on it and get to see it every weekend, etc. but it belongs to my brother-in-law, sorry. So you think they'll stop production of the GP1300R next year and put a 1.8L 4-stroke version of the SHO in its place? ya 08 is the last year for the gpr...... i think they will make the top deck of the current SHO shorter, then call it a 2-seater. just like the rxt/rxp..... it will be a sweet ski, but id like to see them implant the SHO motor in the gpr hull, but ive heard that hull is done forever...... however riva is building a TURBO GPRSHO right now,,, its badass!!

RE: MUDBUG nationals radar run video !!!

We don't have anything like that here (event or location). However, we do have a 30 mile long, 15 mile wide lake that only has an average depth of about 12 feet and is complete glass in the mornings so I've been able to get some great gps runs in. Grats on the run, I've wanted a GP1300R for a long time. Only ridden one but it was a blast to ride. well people drive from all over, i came from texas, some guys from the western shore of canada drove down with there new SHO's, there were almost 200 skis there.. you should come next year... my lake is smooth super early, by the time i get up and ready its to choppy for good numbers, thats why all my boats are setup for chop.... i love GPR's, probably why theres 3 at my house, they have the fastest hulls.. in the future im either gonna do a conversion GPRXP if i can find a wrecked rxp or wait till 09 and yammi has a 2-seater SHO...... wanna sell your 04?? i rode my first rxp-x last weekend.... i loved that boat, seats a little skinny and i dont know how stable it would be in the chop but man did i love that motor and the newer wider pump tunnel... that things a holeshot monster...

RE: MUDBUG nationals radar run video !!!

Sweet. Is that a full on hydrodrag event? How long has it been going on? no not really drag racing, just a top speed run event... its unsanctioned so its pretty laid back... although the whole weekend were drag racing from bar to bar,, it takes place on the bayou in morgan city louisiana.... this was only the fourth MUDBUG ,,, it was my first time, however this will be a yearly trip for sure...

RE: RXP Stage 1 kit

hey i understand, im on some other pwc forums with tons of posts and ya your right, they are for talking about everything not just the tech side of it, i just want to inform people as much as i can on safety and reliability before talking about the bling factor,, ya know?... i too enjoy the back and forth, especially when someone knows what there talking about..... the only reason i join these un-popular sites is to help the people who have questions and dont know where to look.... are you on greenhulk?

RE: RXP Stage 1 kit

I apologize, I did not know they replaced the washers yet. I'm not trying to be against you Remy, it just bothers me when people put too much information or non-related information in posts that are outside what the original posters were asking for, which like I said is why I came here from PWCtoday. I'm a huge enthusiast about PWC's. I'm the type of guy that has memorized years, models, makes, colors of every craft ever built but I'm not an expert when it comes to all motors. Yeah, I have a pretty heavily modified Ultra150 and did all the work but have avoided getting into modifying the engines on my 4-strokes. What year did they replace the washers and what did they replace them with? If they are steel now, why would you need to replace them with aftermarket? Once again, I agree that people that are getting into engine modifications even if they are starting small should look at things like the clutch washers for an RXP, I never felt otherwise. But again, I look at the original poster of this thread as someone who can't even decide if he wants to do stage I, let alone beyond. its all good, no hard feelings here... sea-doo only started the metal washers in the new x boats... if you have an 07 or older the washers are ceramic, 08+ the washers are steel, no need to put aftermarket ones in.... i just feel if your gonna do anything to your boat, start with the preventative stuff first, then work on the speed upgrades..

RE: RXP Stage 1 kit

I came here to escape people like you on PWCtoday and I have over 7,000 posts there. It's calm and laid back here and not everyone needs a total "gearhead" response. people like me?. that know what there talking about....your not the only guy who knows about PWC......im not here to have a pissing contest with anyone, just to share what i know with others. pwcyesterday is a joke..... i come on these forums to help people with problems they have and help them avoid problems in the future.. i think they want a gearhead response that tells them the truth, not just whatever it will be ok.. people come on here for info not to "chat" about skis, and hear what people think..... but i wont let you make this guy think he doesnt need washers, thats ridiculous, you dont have them good for you, but dont tell other people they dont need them...

RE: RXP Stage 1 kit

I had an 04 RXP that is still in the family with zero problems (is everyone going to have the same experiences? No, but it's a fact regardless). I was merely saying that even Riva, who makes the kit we're talking about, doesn't even have it as part of the kit until Stage III. Don't act like the ceramic OEM washers are a disaster waiting to happen because they aren't or they wouldn't still be using them today. You sound like an RXP enthusiast which is great, but have some faith in the company you support. If you need to know where I get some of my information here's a snippet actually worth listening to and it comes straight from Riva: "The factory washers are prone to failure only on MODIFIED engines". There's no need to cause panic or extra expense in a guy who's just casual about modifying his craft. Learn to respond to the questions people are asking and not just throwing out your personal opinions like a bullet because I never said the Riva steel washers were worthless in every respect like you imply in your hasty responses. haha....you might wanna take a closer look at the boat you own,, it now has metal washers, they dont use ceramic anymore, i dont think they would of changed if it wasnt a problem......reading all what you write i would of assumed you knew what was on the boat you just bought... its not my personal opinion its the opinion of people who know rxp's... im a GPR guy, but i know my fair share about the rxp... and if you think changing washers out on the SC is not mandatory then dont do it to your 04, good luck..... but for newbies to the sport, that NEEDS to be the first thing you do,,,,, just like powervalve clips or d-plate on the gpr.... it needs to be done...

RE: 2008 PWC Yamaha vs Seadoo

well do you want a craft thats motor is pushing its limits (rxt-x) although its in its 5th generation and parts are readily available....i loved the rxp-x when i rode it.. or a craft that once its unlocked has ENORMOUS motor potential (SHO) 1st generation might not be a good idea, but everyone ive rode with who has an SHO LOVES it.. do you need no wake mode and cruise control? yamaha service ive heard is much better after the sale... you really need to ride both and then decide,, its more personal preference, and what you plan to do down the road....

RE: RXP Stage 1 kit

HELLRAZER you need to get the SC metal washers before you do anything else, i dont know where monkey is getting his info but those washers are mandatory, i would hate to see your motor get damaged from not installing some cheap washers..... heres some material from the fastest guy on the water,,, you can listen to him or not but thats up to you.... this is just a "snippet" of the page for rxp owners. but you get the idea. If you are interested in modifying your ski for more performance and better handling this article will serve to inform you of whats available and hopefully guide you in the direction you want to take in modifying your ski. Let's start with the basics. The very first thing you should do to your supercharged watercraft if you have an 07 or older ski is switch the stock ceramic supercharger clutch washers for the special RIVA metal washers that are now on the market. A failure of a ceramic clutch washer can cause many problems and will destroy your oil pumps. If the oil pumps are not checked/replaced after a ceramic washer failure you run high risk of serious engine damage in the future. A few of the very first things most people do to their skis is install an intake grate, remove the OPAS system (training wheels) and install a Riva finger throttle/wider handlebar kit. As far as grates go the Riva grate has been proven time and time again to out perform all others and even increases speeds on the higher modified crafts. If you are a rough water rider then the R&D Aquavein intake grate has proven to be the best as it gives better than stock hook up.

RE: 70 mph Industry Limit

After more research I found that it was actually 65 mph, not 70 and was started by SeaDoo and the Coast Guard to get the rest of the industry to comply, which they did. If you're going to respond, at least know what you're talking about and do not just regurgitate a snippet of what you found after you googled some key words. So yes it was with each other as well as the Coast Guard. This was also more than 9 years ago and obviously the 65 mph cap has already been exceeded as I've witnessed many of my own craft and friends craft past 65 on the GPS. Like it matters, numerous craft with the right mods can exceed 70 mph anyway and I guess anyone who wants to go faster can do so. i responded because i knew what i was talking about, and apparently you did not, thanks anyway.... top speed for a ski now is 106.....although hes not using a jetpump fastest jetpump is 103.. last week i was riding with 170+ skis who were in the 70's 80's and 90's....

RE: RXP Stage 1 kit

i would try to piece mail the pieces together, its alot cheaper than buying the direct kit from riva....... that kit doesnt do much with the engine so reliability is still there, as long as you've added the metal washers to yor SC you'll be fine
